Core Herbal Ingredients (choose one or a blend)
- Elderflower – floral soothing, and great for immunity
- Lemon balm – calming and citrusy
- Mint – refreshing and digestive-friendly
- Chamomile – mellow and relaxing
Prepare Your Herbs
Rinse your fresh herbs gently under cool water to remove any dirt or debris.
If using dried herbs, measure about half the quantity (they’re more concentrated).
Lightly bruise fresh herbs with your hands or the back of a spoon to help release their oils.
Simmer the Infusion
In a medium saucepan, combine your herbs and 2 cups of water.
Heat until it simmers gently over medium heat, then lower the temperature to low
Let the herbs simmer for 20–30 minutes, uncovered, until the liquid is reduced by about one-third and smells wonderfully aromatic
Strain and Cool
Remove from heat and allow the herbal infusion to cool for 10–15 minutes.
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bowl or jug.
Gently press or squeeze the herbs to extract as much liquid as possible.
Sweeten and Brighten
While the liquid is still warm (but not hot), stir in your sweetener—start with 1 cup and adjust to taste.
Add the fresh lemon juice for a tangy balance and natural preservation.
Stir until fully dissolved and smooth.
Bottle and Store
Pour the finished cordial into a sterilized glass jar or bottle using a funnel.
Ensure an airtight seal and store in the refrigerator for a maximum of 4 weeks
Shake gently before each use, especially if using raw honey, as natural separation may occur.
